About us
Sforzando Composers Collective is an association of four composers based in New York City. The association was created in January of 2017 by composition alumni from the Manhattan School of Music who are devoted to the creation, production, and promotion of new music and multidisciplinary works.
After years of study and dedication to our artistic disciplines, we seek to utilize art as a powerful tool that can generate awareness about issues that affect the world. As artists, we strive for the expansion of boundaries while developing new and exciting ways of presenting artworks for all types of venues and communities. Sforzando embraces all cultural traditions, music styles, and art disciplines while understanding our artistic responsibility to educate, expose, and reach all types of audiences in order to propagate the importance of music and art.
Sforzando has presented numerous multidisciplinary concerts in venues and art galleries throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan involving the collective work of composers, performers, dancers, visual artists, and filmmakers. Notable projects included collaborations with New Asia Chamber Music Society & Jubilee Artists Management, MJM Dance, Mise-en PLACE, Jihye Lee, Vasko Dukovsky, and Wei-Yang Andi Ling.
The artistic diversity of Sforzando events has ranged from the performance of classical traditional repertoire, electronic music, jazz, and Avant-garde works, to works that combined western and eastern instrumentations, dance, improvisation, and visual projections. Furthermore, our projects and artistic network often combine the talent and hard-work of emerging artists, alumni, and students from institutions such as the Manhattan School of Music, Juilliard, Mannes, and NYU in order to bring works of the highest artistic standards and quality.
